LittleBigPlanet Out In Europe 'no Later Than' Week Of Nov. 3rd
Filed under: News Sony has seen fit to update us with a less vague (but not by much) release date for the Qur'an-tastic LittleBigPlanet in European territories. While the assumption was that the week-long delay in America would be mirrored in Europe (why wouldn't it?) it seems that may not be the case. The official line is that the game "will start to appear in stores no later than the week commencing Monday 3rd November in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, on a country by country basis."
"We appreciate all the enthusiasm surrounding this much anticipated title and we would like to thank PlayStation fans for their support and understanding," Sony continues. We're curious to know exactly what "no later than" means. Best case scenario is that the game will suffer only a week delay. Worst case is two weeks. Really, it could be worse....

LittleBigPlanet PlayStation Game Recalled To Avoid Sunni Snit
Imagine the horror!
If Sony hadn't recalled LittleBigPlanet, some Sunni might have heard the sound track, and the verses from the Quran in one of the songs.
Turns out that, although Muslims in general and most Sunnis don't mind hearing quotes from the Quran, and can tolerate music, some really 'strict' Sunnis don't approve of instrumental music of any sort.
So, Sony pulled their new PlayStation game, and won't release it until it's been purged of those 'insulting' verses from the Quran. I've read, though, that some copies of the game, with the Quran quotes, are for sale on eBay.
Since Some Sunnis Don't Like Instrumental Music ...
While Sony is at it, they'd better pull every video game they've got that has music in the sound tracks. A Sunni, somewhere, might be insulted. Why stop there? I'll stop short of suggesting that all orchestra conductors...

LittleBigPlanet Delayed By Terrorism
Sony has decided to delay the release of their newest game. The stated reason is that on of the sound tracks contain a couple of phrases from the Quran. They are afraid that it would insult those of Muslim faith.
The possibly that something that could be insulting to the christian faith has not stopped media from being released. This hypocrisy is getting thick. I guess that Muslims are now a special group that gets special treatment.
I guess that there is a legitimate concern as those people tend to be viewed as a intolerant and violent lot when it comes to even the smallest slight against their religion. Maybe they are afraid that one of them might be crazy enough to suicide bomb Sony headquarters for such a minor infraction.

Sony: LittleBigPlanet US Release Moved To Week Of Oct. 27
Filed under: Sony PlayStation 3, Action, Business
Delayed from its original Oct. 21 release date after phrases from the Qur'an were discovered in one of the game's background music tracks, LittleBigPlanet has been rescheduled for release in the US during the week of October 27th. SCEA made the announcement on PlayStation.Blog in response to a worldwide delay of the game's release.
Patrick Seybold, SCEA's director of corporate communications, says, "We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologize for any offense that this may have caused." For those patiently suddenly finding themselves having trouble waiting out the six-day delay, Seybold offers an apology and promise. "Sorry for the delay, and rest assured, we are doing everything we can to get LittleBigPlanet to you as soon as possible."
We've contacted Sony to find out exactly what steps are being taken to address the situation...
