Beckett Will Not Throw In Opener?
By Saving A Sketch, You Agree To Our Terms and ConditionsBoston Red Sox's stud 20 game winner, Josh Beckett, will NOT be starting the first game on opening day. The other day during an exhibition game, Beckett walked off the mound during his warm up pitches with a tweak in his back. He did not seem to walk off in extreme pain as there was no limp, but Red Sox must have some concern if they already announced he will not be starting.
"I don't think we know [for sure] yet," Francona said. "But we're certainly not going to rush him back to pitch a game March 24 if he's not ready."
Josh Beckett however did report yesterday that is his back is feeling better. All you Red Sox fans out there keep those fingers crossed that his back does not continue to act throughout the season.

Josh Beckett Hurts Lower Back
By Saving A Sketch, You Agree To Our Terms and ConditionsDuring yesterday's spring training game against the Marlins, Josh Beckett left the game early before ever facing a batter. During his warm up pitches he developed a back spasm and ended up walking off the field.
Beckett did not seem to be in extreme discomfort while leaving the mound but Red Sox fans should keep their fingers crossed that this isn't something that continues throughout the season. He was Boston's number one pitcher last year and was Major League Baseball's only twenty game winner last season.
