It's Almost Go Time!
By Saving A Sketch, You Agree To Our Terms and ConditionsNintendo of America officially set a release date for Mario Kart Wii. Sunday, April 27th 2008 fans of the series will be able to hit the circuit once again. No announcement has been made about a mid night release, but don't be surprise if GameStop steps up again to help out loyal fans of the series get a copy in their hands as soon as it is legally possible.
Previously, NOA suggested that Kart Wii might arrive after the May debut of Wii Fit, but apparently that is not the case.
Mario Kart Wii comes packaged with the Wii Wheel. In addition to a wide selection of new tracks and vehicles, the title features a 12-player online component and compatibility with multiple different controller configurations.
For those afraid of the Wii Wheel, not to worry, Mario Kart Wii supports four different control options: Wii Remote with or without the Wii Wheel, Wii Remote and Nunchuk controller combo, Classic Controller and even the Nintendo GameCube controller. So there's bound to be a configuration that fits everyone's style.
Also, Mario Kart Wii launches with a new channel added to the Wii Menu to enhance game play: The Mario Kart Wii Channel. This new channel builds on the huge online community of Wii owners and lets players compete in tournaments, check worldwide rankings, see when their friends are playing and download ghost data.
Stay to tune for details. As of right now, we know Nintendo of Europe will not support voice chat for Mario Kart Wii, which leads us to believe the U.S. version will be the same. But there is always hope.

Kart Updates
By Saving A Sketch, You Agree To Our Terms and ConditionsApril 24th is the official release date for Mario Kart Wii in Australia.
A new Wii Channel will launch on the day of the release, the Mario Kart Channel. Monitor your rankings against Mario Kart Wii players world wide, share Ghost Data, access a host of special features, and join a community of Mario Kart Wii racing fans from around the world.
Gamestop originally informed me that the U.S. version was releasing on April 2nd. But after further review it seems to the last slated release in the world. What is that all about? As of right now the U.S. should be receiving the game on Monday, April 28th. It looks likes it could be a 3 day weekend for some people!
I still have my fingers crossed that Nintendo plans to surprise the U.S. with the release of voice chat, but I won't hold my head in the toilet.

Text Chat!!! What The F%@k?!
By Saving A Sketch, You Agree To Our Terms and ConditionsNintendo of Europe has just annoucement Mario Kart Wii will only support text chat in between matches, while waiting for the competition. It will not support keyboards either. Nintendo is playing it really safe and will only allow a pre-determined number of phrases to be used.
This is extremely weak. I hope they straighten this situation out before Mario Kart Wii releases in the U.S. If the hand held Nintendo DS can handle voice chat, then Nintendo Wii console should have all the capabilities and then some to support full online gaming.
It is not 1997!!! Nintendo, please don't let XBox360 continue with its online domination. Mario Kart Wii has a chance to be the greatest game of all time...don't mess it up. Please!!!!!!!!!!!
