Maddux Leaves Game Injuried
By Saving A Sketch, You Agree To Our Terms and ConditionsSan Diego Padres' pitcher, Greg Maddux, left yesterday's exhibition game with an injury. Derrek Lee roped a line drive back at Maddux which drill him directly in his left thigh. Maddux was able to recover the ball quick enough to get Lee out at first but ended up leaving the game with a bruised thigh.
Greg Maddux is being checked out day by day but it is hard to tell how long the deep muscle bruise will affect his throwing ability. Spring Training is coming to an end, you think old man Maddux will be able to heal in time for his first start?

You're Out!!!
By Saving A Sketch, You Agree To Our Terms and ConditionsOn Thursday Billy Crystal began and ended his professional baseball career without a hit. The lifelong New York Yankees fan was signed by the team to play in a preseason exhibition match against the Pittsburgh Pirates and struck out. Crystal wore jersey number 60, which was in honor of his 60th birthday on Friday, March 14th. Friend, Robin Williams cheered on the Princess Bride star, who didn't have much luck at the plate. Pretty nice birthday present, Billy!

Yankees Sign 59 Year Old?
By Saving A Sketch, You Agree To Our Terms and ConditionsActor Billy Crystal, age 59, is an avid Yankees fan and has just signed a one day minor league contract with his favorite team. Crystal will sport the number 60 jersey and play in Thursday's exhibition game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
"I've been waiting 50 years for this call," Crystal said in a statement released by the team. "I'm overwhelmed by the generosity of the Yankees and commissioner Selig. I know this'll be tougher than the Broadway Softball League, but I'm looking forward to helping the younger players, which by the way is all of them."
I have never seen or every thought I would see anything like this. I understand maybe another professional athlete from another sport doing this or maybe even a young athletic actor, but a 59 year old celebrity? What do you think about it, comment I am interested to hear.

Mets Looking For Outfielder
By Saving A Sketch, You Agree To Our Terms and ConditionsWith the recent injury of Moises Alou, the New York Mets are looking for someone to fill the gap in their outfield. Earlier this week Alou went out with a hernia and should be on the IR for weeks to come. In the mean time rumors have been flying that the Mets maybe looking to make a trade.
Some talk has been said that the Mets are talking to the Tigers' to acquire Marcus Thames or the Pirates' for Xavier Nady, who is a former New York Met.
Even some wild and unlike rumors have been spreading saying the Mets even thought twice about talking with the old Kenny Lofton, Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa. If they picked up Barry Bonds, I will officially hate the Mets for the rest of my life, it would be nothing other than a marketing move to bring in more fans because the dude is old, fat and can't play the field anymore!

Red Sox Spoil Papelbon
By Saving A Sketch, You Agree To Our Terms and ConditionsRed Sox finally settle with their young stud reliever, Jonathan Papelbon, by agreeing to a one year contract of $775,000. We are assuming that Papelbon is happy with his new contract, or at least should be since he just received the largest contract for any relief pitcher that has been in the majors for less than three years.
Papelbon, 27 years of age, was 37-for-40 on saves last season, with a great ERA of 1.85. In just 58 1/3 innings of work he struck out 84 batters and helped his team win the World Series.
Papelbon thinks highly of himself even though he is still very young, he originally was asking or hoping for $900,000. That would be a %100 profit increase from last season.
