Gene Upshaw Dies At 63
By Saving A Sketch, You Agree To Our Terms and ConditionsGene Upshaw, Hall of Fame Oakland Raider and longtime head of the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) died Wednesday night at his home in Lake Tahoe, Calif., of pancreatic cancer, which was diagnosed only last Sunday.
Gene Upshaw did everything with great dignity, pride, and conviction," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said.
His 15-season playing career was entirely with the Oakland Raiders and included two Super Bowl wins and seven Pro Bowl appearances. Then in 1983, he became executive director of the players' association and guided it through the 1987 strike that led to replacement football. By 1989, the players had a limited form of freedom, called Plan B, and in 1993, free agency and a salary cap were instituted.

DeAngelo Hall Thinking About Becoming A Raider
By Saving A Sketch, You Agree To Our Terms and ConditionsFormer Atlanta Falcons cornerback, DeAngelo Hall, says he will complete a contract deal with the Oakland Raiders by this coming Thursday. Hall will be making his way out to Oakland on Wednesday afternoon to meet with officials and talk about signing a big deal.
It is rumored that Raiders are going to trade their second round pick in this coming draft in order to acquire Hall. It is also being said that DeAngelo Hall is to expect a deal just below what Asante Samuel got with the Eagles just a few weeks ago. Samuel signed a six year deal worth $57 million.
A lot of money has been spent in Oakland this off season hopefully their record can show for it in this years upcoming season
