Attempting to end their 100-year drought without a World Series title, the NL Central leading Chicago Cubs acquired talented right-hander Rich Harden in a six-player deal with the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.
The deal consisted of a 6 man trade with the Oakland Athletics. Chicago also got right-hander Chad Gaudin, who pitched previously for Piniella in Tampa Bay, and sent to the A's promising right-hander Sean Gallagher, outfielders Matt Murton, Eric Patterson and minor leaguer Josh Donaldson.
Harden is set to be a free agent at the end of the 2009 season.
