American Idol jumps the shark. Paula, Randy and Simon are are going to have to build a bigger table because they are getting some company.
Grammy-nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi is joining American Idol as a judge when the singing competition returns for its eighth season in January 2009.
The Grammy nominee's name may not be familiar to Idol viewers, but her sound should be. DioGuardi has strong ties to the behind-the-scenes world of Idol, writing tracks for David Cook, David Archuleta, Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken, Bo Bice, Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks.
She has also more than earned her credentials outside the Idol universe, penning hits for Britney Spears, Jonas Brothers, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Paris Hilton, Avril Lavigne, Lindsay Lohan, Leona Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield, Santana, Hilary Duff, Simpsons Jessica and Ashlee and just about any other artist who's cracked Billboard's Top 10 in recent years.
DioGuardi was probably brought in a precaution. Who knows when Paula will completely lose her mind?
Entrepreneur Jessica Simpson, who recently launched her own clothing line, has teamed up with Dallas' Stampede Brewing Company to become the new face of Stampede Light Plus beer.
Although terms of the deal were not disclosed, Simpson is reportedly taking on a 15 per cent stake in the company in return for her endorsement.
Along with her own fashion line, Simpson has also launched her own fragrance, range of hair extensions and a bath and body collection.
We'll see how great this deal is once Tony Romo dumps her ass after the Cowboys choke once again in the playoffs.
Simpson will probably be cheering, "E-A-G-L-E-S...Go Eagles!"
